Bodom & Lacuna WIP

Bodom is a brutal scavenger from Discordia.

Decades of warfare have converted it to a wasteland. Armies are scattered. No homes to return to. Death, deceit, and suffering around every corner. The two Discordian suns are nearly dead, and the dwarf planet is practically frozen solid. Survival means crippling any life forms you cross, pilfering their belongings, and tearing the flesh (if there is any) from their bones when hunger strikes.

Drifting over the frozen tundra searching for his next prey, Bodom followed a Gardenian into a seemingly bottomless cave. He hadn’t eaten for days. The ensuing battle for survival was savage. Walls were crushed and contorted, the ground was cracked wide … the cavern nearly crumbled down upon them.

As the Gardenian fell and huffed its last breath, a glimmering aura caught Bodom’s eye from the rubble. Adrenaline pumping, he blitzed the wall; nearly knocking the planet off its axis … he was bashing through the rock and ice with a fury he’s never felt. His thick skin cut and tore as he bathed in his own blood. He was drawn to the light by a strength he couldn’t control.

The suns had crisscrossed the sky nine times before Bodom’s furious quest ended. An immediate calm came over him. An alien girl blankly stared into his soul. She was frozen near the planets core for what must have been millennia. He removed her from the ice, and did what he could to revive her. She gasped for air, grasped his mane, and then immediately passed out. Instincts told him she was his purpose in life. He named her Lacuna.

Years passed as Bodom guarded her from hunters, protected her from the machines, and awaited the day she’d arise. On the night her eyes peeled back, and she woke from her lucid hibernation, a wave of misery coursed Bodom’s veins as he dropped to his knees to hold her. He knew of the suffering that lay ahead. He knew of the conflict that existed beyond Discordia’s wormholes. He could not understand her language, but knew precisely what was said as she spoke to him.

She spoke of the machines and their weaknesses, she spoke of the other planets and the war … and most importantly, that she was the answer. She was the one chosen by her ancient race … imbued with light and magic. She was the one who would end the war. She was to be his weapon.
